Veere Di Wedding Trailer Launch with Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor

At the trailer launch of upcoming film Veere Di Wedding, starring female leads as Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Taslania talked about the film. Veere Di Wedding is a female buddy film narrating the story of four best friends. One among them, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan is getting married to a guy played Sumeet Vyas where rest of friends are there to attend the wedding. Apparently, things go south where each of them seems to want different things in their life. The film is directed by Shashanka Ghosh who is well-known for her film Khoobsurat featuring Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan.

Kareena Kapoor talked about the film and casting of such mainstream female leads together, said “I have been a part of ensemble films but this was very peculiar and that is why I wanted to be a part of it. I don’t think a lot of mainstream actresses want to be paired with other girls. I have always worked with Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh and everyone wants to work with them. However, the fact is that I wanted to be a part of this movie, work with Sonam and Swara and feel like a team player.”

She added “It has taught me to get out of that typical commercial zone of being part of big Bollywood movies. So, it has been a learning experience.”

Sonam Kapoor on other side talked about the film, shared “I don’t think a film like this has been made before. It is entertaining and has everything from romance to drama. And why can’t a female headline a commercial film that is about girls which has a story? Things might change if this film works, I hope it brings about a change in the roles that are written for us,”

Sonam added “There is very long way before it happens. People like Kareena are setting an example. She got married and then she was on the sets and after having a baby she was on the sets. Shahid Kapoor got married did anyone ask whether he will work or not. Nobody will ask this question to a man. This misogynistic mindset is what needs to change and hopefully with films like this things will change. We are hoping this film does well. It is important for this film to do well so we as a women will get our space. We can break the glass in some way or the other.”

Sonam also talked about her co-star Kareena Kapoor, said “Kareena Kapoor is my favourite hero I have worked with. It’s the easiest thing to work with other women. Unfortunately, our conditioning is such that people expect women to pull other women down and compete with each other because obviously divide and rule.
