BollywoodWrap Exclusive Interview With Paras Tomar

Journalist, model, actor, Social media star, entrepreneur… Paras Tomar loves to keep himself in many shoes. Having sailed in different boats, Paras has been successful in whatever way he has chosen. From being a successful TV anchor to being a social media star, Paras has managed to win the hearts of people of all ages. In an exclusive chat with BOLLYWOOD WRAP, Paras Tomar bares himself open, quite literally.

BollywoodWrap : Tell us something about your background?
Paras Tomar : I am a Fauji kid and an only child. I grew up travelling a lot and studying in Navals schools. Outdoors were a part of me and it’s the best growing up experience.

BollywoodWrap : How was early life as a Navy officer’s child? You must have travelled a lot.
Paras Tomar : I moved every 2 years when dad got transferred. In my case, by the time the teachers figured you were a brat, you had moved! Travelled most of the country with dad and the rest of the country and the world because I started hosting travel shows very early in life.

BollywoodWrap : Did you always want to be a part of the media ?
Paras Tomar : I had no idea what I wanted to be and how I’d get there. We moved to Mumbai when I was 16 and things just happened . I have the incredible fortune of meeting the sweetest people who just ended up creating amazing opportunities for me and here I am.

BollywoodWrap : How was the experience of working as a cub journalist with JLT?
Paras Tomar : That is what paved the way for me to start writing for the Bombay Times which in turn lead to CNN NEWS18 offering me a television job the moment I graduated.

BollywoodWrap : From print to TV at the age of 19, how did it all happen? We would love to hear this.
Paras Tomar : As a fauji kid, I guess my etiquette was on point. I would call a lot of celebrities for interviews on phone. I suppose they were amused by a 17-year-old working with, what was then considered, one of the biggest national dailies. Because I had enough work to my credit, TV18 reached out to me and I went for my first official television job interview without knowing anything at all. And I got it 🙂 They soon made me the face of the entertainment section, which at age of 18 was pretty cool.

BollywoodWrap : From TV to live shows, you have hosted and anchored a lot of them. Which has been your best experience ?
Paras Tomar : My favourite show to host was Heavy Petting on NDTV Good TIMES. We would travel and chill with animals and the crew was always great. Give me a travel show and I’m always thrilled.

BollywoodWrap : Which has been your favourite show for anchoring and your favourite tv show host ?
Paras Tomar : One of the shows I hosted about two years ago was OMG CHHATTISGARH. That was definitely quite an experience. The hosts that I’ve always enjoyed watching will be Ryan Seacrest, Megan Kelly or Anderson Cooper.

BollywoodWrap : From hosting to modelling, how did the transition go?
Paras Tomar : Honestly. It just happened and keeps happening. I don’t know when partying turned to tv, when tv turned to Modelling, when that turned to acting and I barely know when and how we started a business, I feel like I’m playing temple run in life where I keep collecting coins!

BollywoodWrap : And finally, acting. Was this forever your dream? How did you get your first break?
Paras Tomar : I knew that I would enjoy acting, but I never really thought of anything as a break. I guess the actual “acting“ that got me a lot of recognition and work was a short film I produced. “ Baby Steps” was a short film about two boys who were in love and it opened up so much opportunity for me.

BollywoodWrap : Some of your best performances which you loved?
Paras Tomar : I oddly love myself more in content that I produced, my own persona, favourites are my chants and mantras that are on YouTube. You should look for the Hanuman Chalisa Tandav by Paras Tomar on YouTube

BollywoodWrap : From journalist to actor, to social media star and now finally, an entrepreneur? How do you manage all this?
Paras Tomar : Haha I have too much fun honestly. Being restless has its perks. If channelised well, the idea of wanting to do something new all the time definitely opens more doors

BollywoodWrap : How did Nuskhe by Paras come up? From where did u get all the formulations and how did you manage to get everything together?
Paras Tomar : That one we worked really hard on. The idea was something I came up with in late 2018. By 2019 we launched the brand. Hired cosmetologists, got factories, got licenses and really grew.

BollywoodWrap : From where did you get this knowledge of Ayurveda?
Paras Tomar : The best part about wanting to learn today is that it’s readily available. I’m self-taught in most matters, Ayurveda is no exception. For the Nuskhe products of course, we have scientists and processes in place

BollywoodWrap : As a brand, what does Nuskhe by Paras offer and how do you manufacture your products?
Paras Tomar : We are a proud Indian brand. Everything is made from end to end in India. We have a range of skincare, pet care and health care products now. Ever growing portfolio

BollywoodWrap : Did you being a celebrity helped you sell your brand better?
Paras Tomar : I suppose it was a start. But people might buy a product once because they know who you are. They will only buy it again if the product is good.

BollywoodWrap : You have recently come out about your sexuality. Was it difficult?
Paras Tomar : Haha, I haven’t recently come out. I was never in the closet. I told my dad about my first boyfriend when I was 17! And it was never difficult. It’s like asking someone who identifies as being straight if that was difficult. For someone like me, it was never a conversation.

BollywoodWrap : How has been the journey of life for you in the past two decades?
Paras Tomar : Has it been two decades! Haha, time really flies.

BollywoodWrap : Any tips for people who want to become entrepreneurs?
Paras Tomar : Find a way to mix passion with good economics. One compliments the other. If your expectations are realistic but your hard work is infinite, you will definitely turn a new leaf

BollywoodWrap : Any tips for people who are still in a closet about their sexuality?
